Women’s Health
We offer excellent care for the many different aspects and needs of women's health. Our GPs have an expansive range of specialisms centred around women's health and wellbeing.
Women's Health at The Private GP Group is led by Dr Shashi Prasad
Our Women's Health Clinic is led by Dr Shashi Prasad, a GP, British Menopause Society (BMS) Accredited Menopause Specialist and Functional Medicine Doctor. With many years of experience in both NHS and private practice, Dr Prasad adopts a personalised approach, integrating conventional medicine with functional medicine principles. She has undertaken menopause training at King's College Hospital (London) and functional medicine training with the Institute of Functional Medicine (USA).
She has further specialised in bio-identical hormone therapy through the Marion Gluck Training Academy. Her clinical work focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of hormonal and metabolic conditions, using advanced diagnostic testing and tailored treatment plans to manage health concerns.
-

MENOPAUSE AND PERIMENOPAUSE
Dr Shashi offers individualised care across perimenopause and menopause — from early symptoms such as brain fog, mood changes and disrupted sleep through to postmenopausal health. She provides hormone blood testing, evidence-based HRT and testosterone therapy for women where appropriate, alongside a functional medicine approach to optimise metabolic, bone and cardiovascular health in midlife and beyond.
-

HORMONAL HEALTH AND FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Beyond menopause, Dr Shashi cares for women across the hormonal spectrum — premenstrual syndrome (PMS), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She also manages underactive thyroid disorder including Hashimoto's, and adrenal dysfunction, with particular interest in stress and cortisol imbalance. Believing hormonal health matters equally for men, she offers consultations for testosterone deficiency (andropause). Across all of these, Dr Shashi looks beyond symptoms to identify root causes using functional testing such as DUTCH tests, genetic and gut tests.

CONTRACEPTIVE PILL
We offer consultations for both the combined pill and progestogen-only pill:
The combined pill contains oestrogen and progestogen, preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus, and thinning the womb lining to prevent implantation.
The progestogen-only pill (mini pill) primarily works by thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg and sometimes preventing ovulation.
Our doctors will assess your medical history and lifestyle to recommend the most suitable option, ensuring you understand how to use it effectively for maximum protection.
Our HPV screening is used to check for HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). HPV is a very common virus that can lead to issues such as genital warts or cervical cancer.
If you were to test positive for HPV your sample will be sent on for further testing to look for the presence of abnormal cells (cytology).
We also offer the HPV vaccine Gardasil 9 at our practices; Gardasil 9 provides protection against 9 different types of HPV which are responsible for causing 90% of cervical cancers. The vaccine is administered in 1-3 doses over 6 months, depending on age.
