ADHD ASSESSMENTS

Living with undiagnosed ADHD can be confusing, frustrating, and exhausting. Whether you’re struggling with focus at work, relationships, or simply getting through everyday tasks, an assessment can help you understand what’s really going on and what support is available.

Symptoms

of ADHD

ADHD affects everyone differently, but common signs include:

  • Trouble focusing or paying attention

  • Easily distracted or forgetful

  • Difficulty organising tasks or managing time

  • Restlessness or feeling “on the go”

  • Interrupting or speaking without thinking

  • Struggling to sit still or relax

  • Losing things often (keys, phone, paperwork)

  • Finding it hard to finish tasks or meet deadlines

  • Mood swings or frustration with everyday tasks

If these challenges are having a regular impact on your work, studies, or personal life, an assessment could help you gain clarity and direction.

FAQs

  • An ADHD assessment is right for you if you:

    • Suspect you may have ADHD but have never been formally diagnosed

    • Were diagnosed in childhood but want to review how symptoms affect you as an adult

    • Already have a diagnosis but want a second opinion or updated assessment

    • Feel your symptoms are affecting your quality of life and want support

  • A diagnosis can feel like a relief — it validates your experiences and helps explain long-standing challenges.

If ADHD is confirmed, you’ll have options for support, including:

    • Practical strategies and coping tools

    • Psychological support and therapies

    • Medication, if appropriate

    • Guidance on workplace or educational adjustments

Diagnosis is the first step toward managing ADHD, not the final destination.

  • If you already know you have ADHD, we can help you:

    • Review your current treatment plan

    • Reassess symptoms if things have changed

    • Provide medical documentation for school, work, or insurers

    • Explore treatment options if you’re not currently receiving support

  • If medication is appropriate, we’ll support you every step of the way. This includes:

    • A clear discussion about your options (stimulant and non-stimulant)

    • Guidance on expected benefits and possible side effects

    • Careful titration (adjustment of dose) to find what works best for you

    • Regular follow-ups to make sure treatment is safe and effective

  • The assessment is a detailed 90-minute appointment using the DIVA-5 diagnostic interview, along with your completed questionnaires and background information.

  • Before your appointment, you’ll be asked to complete the Adult Self-Report, Childhood Self-Report, WEISS Impairment Scale, Background Information Form, and an Informant Questionnaire (someone who knew you well during childhood can fill this in).

  • These help your clinician understand your symptoms, background, and how ADHD affects you day to day — saving time during the appointment and supporting an accurate diagnosis.

  • The appointment usually lasts around 90 minutes.

  • You will receive your written assessment report within one week of your appointment.

  • This follow-up session allows you to discuss your diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps, including non-medication support and potential medication if appropriate.

  • If you already have a diagnosis, please book an Existing ADHD Diagnosis Consultation. Bring your original diagnostic report, so the clinician can review it and confirm that it meets current standards.

  • Before starting medication, you’ll need a medical review to check your height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, and ECG to ensure medication is safe for you.

  • Once you’ve started medication, titration reviews take place every 3–4 weeks (or as clinically indicated) until you reach your optimal and well-tolerated dose.

  • An annual review is recommended to make sure you’re managing well on your current treatment, that your medication remains appropriate, and that any support needs are reviewed.

  • Yes — repeat prescriptions are available for existing patients at a cost of £35. They can be collected from the clinic or posted via recorded delivery.

  • Not always. Medication can only be prescribed after a feedback consultation and pre-medication checks, once it’s confirmed that it’s safe and appropriate for you.
